Galatians 5:14
For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Love is the entire point. Good works without love is futile, and empty. We can be doing all of the “right things” by the worlds standard, we can do all of the things that make us feel like a “good person” but without love behind it, it’s pointless. I was thinking the other day- God hates sin because it hurts the sinner & the people around them. God loves people, and sin destroys people. Think of an addict, and how they’re in a cycle of destruction, destroying themselves and hurting everyone around them, that’s what sin tends to do. He doesn’t hate the person in bondage, but he hates the bondage that holds them. Obedience isn’t some control tactic to keep you from having fun-on the contrary, it’s a means to freedom. obedience is a way God protects us, and we have the choice to take heed. The ability of the human choice is a great example of God’s abounding love for his people- and He wants us to love as he loves. His intolerance for sin shows of his great love for the people He’s created, and out of that very love- he sent Jesus, who made a costly sacrifice on the cross, and took the full wrath of God that we deserved to take away our sin when we repent and put our faith into Him. Because of Jesus, we now have access to the God who loves us, without hinderance. Turn, repent. He wants us to have life, and have it abundantly. (John 10:10) Sometimes we can forget that love is whole point. Happy Good Friday. Thank you Jesus.
Isaiah 53:5
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
and by his wounds we are healed.
