“For a long time, women have been defined by the male gaze — the hero’s mother, the hero’s partner. But there’s a large female population that wants to see itself on screen outside that lens.”

Pope Leo was diagnosed with a form of cancer called lung adenocarcinoma, and had part of his right lung removed during surgery on Tuesday, the Vatican said in a medical bulletin.

It said an examination of a nodule during the operation had confirmed the diagnosis, which it said had been “suspected by preoperative tests.” The statement did not say whether the pope would undergo further treatment.

The sheriff said “tours by appointment only” to the MAYOR #ONLYinDADE

Broward’s mayor and a few commissioners pulled up to the sheriff’s training center Monday, the same one an audit says cost more than double its original $34 million price. The door was locked. A deputy told them to schedule a tour and shut it.

A few hours later the sheriff got on camera and said all nine commissioners are part of a criminal investigation. The county says it’s never heard of one.

The mayor called an emergency meeting for this morning to talk about taking legal action. Grab your popcorn. 🍿

I've spent so many years sharing my City story.

Of how I fell in love with a football club for all of its imperfections when I visited Maine Road for the first time in 1996. The scoreboard didn't work. A plastic seagull/hawk swung from the Kippax stand. The subs bench was plastic garden furniture. None of the stands matched. I was a teenager often mocked & bullied at school. A right ugly duckling. For me, City was love at first sight.

The football at the time was mostly terrible. Five managers in 18 months. Demonstrations outside the ground. The shame of relegation and the dour times relentless. A 6-0 win over Swindon Town a mere shining light. Relegation to the third tier of English football brought more embarrassment. Macclesfield away a reality.

I went to games and then got my season ticket - my first season the one before Division Two. Home & away watching the Blues. I watched us get beat at home to Bury, Wimbledon, Wycombe Wanderers & Stockport County. Trips to the Hawthorns, the Riverside, Highfield Road & St Andrews ended in defeat. Mocked, ridiculed, pitied. Then the slow rise again. Joe Royle. 1999. The Keegan era.

We endured - but I enjoyed too. The self-deprecating humour we developed together as a fanbase. The friendships we formed. The blue ties that bind us together as a community. The friends for life from this club. The boyfriends gone by. The husband I married. The children I birthed. All tied to my club. All thanks to my club. My Manchester City.

I can't talk about anything to do with the process right now. I've turned down every media request (and a lot of money too, but it's never about that for me), please respect I can't. But my support for the club, for City, will never waver. Owners, managers, players all come and go. The one constant is the club - as long as I have City, a City, at the end of this, I'll be happy & relieved.

The division to me doesn't matter. I've already done three of them - and if that didn't test my loyalty, this certainly won't. I didn't sign up for silverware - I signed up to belong. To feel at home. To have as much fun away from the pitch as the players do on it.

We will be here. Wherever here is. CTID 🩵
