Today I am chatting with another artist, @_emisiv, from the Place: Toronto VA that's forthcoming this Thursday. ✨ We are discussing that elusive idea, the "Toronto sound", if there even is one, or perhaps its hard-to-define shapelessness is what defines the music of T-dot. 🤔
All proceeds raised from sales of the release will be donated to Toronto Community Justice Fund, which raises and distributes resources for community members living in the GTA who are facing legal and financial repercussions for their Palestinian liberation and solidarity work.
Evan's track 'No Envo' is a deep and evolving house-techno jam that recalls the dynamism and melodies of 90s Detroit techno. 💫 You can hear the full thing when the VA releases this Friday on Bandcamp, and maybe when he plays b2b with @marnigurl on day 2 of the release party, which takes place at @rhythm__space and streaming WWW via @cs__radio.
Sound off in the comments. 🔊 Do you think Toronto has a specific sound or is its ineffable quality part of its charm?
