Short little guide for My Son Sanctuary near Hoi An and Da Nang in Central Vietnam ✨

We went into this day trip not knowing too much about it and were shocked by how big and how many buildings have been restored. And Cham history and really fascinating!

I recommend pairing this day trip with the Cham Sculpture Museum in Da Nang and maybe even Cham Islands near Hoi An if you have time (though you’ll need a few days for the islands if you go on your own) 🏝️

The Cham people were once a powerful force in Central Vietnam, building temples, trading with India, and leaving behind a legacy that still feels alive at My Son. Their art, architecture, and Hindu beliefs shaped this region for centuries. You’ll see touches of it in the carvings, in the museum, and even in the landscape itself 😊

I remember visiting My Son for the first time 13 years ago. Drove a bike with a friend and got stuck in the thick mud during the rainy season. Pure chaos, loved it.😂
