‘My Body is a Crime Scene’ will be released as a single on 5th June 2025.
This song embodies all that we want Mrs Frighthouse to be, and the words ‘My Body Is A Crime Scene’ are some of the few lyrics on our debut album written before the band existed. It’s an unapologetically feminist song that criticises the power structures and culture of silence that enable abuse. It describes how physical touch is used by abusers as a weapon of control, rather than something they ‘can’t help’.
The vocalist describes the lessons she learned about why abusers do what they do, and directly confronts perpetrators of abuse and everyone complicit in silencing victims. The lyrics are a modern take on the ‘cautionary tales’ women used to tell to keep one another safe from predators and abusers.
In addition to being released on Bandcamp and all the usual streaming services, there’s an accompanying music video that will be live at the same time.
My Body is a Crime Scene was mixed by our very own @lunafrighthouse and mastered by the legendary James Plotkin @plotkinworks
The music video was edited by Luna Frighthouse using:
-‘Now It’s YOUR Turn To Watch MY Video (Naval Gazing)’ and Photographs by @carysreilly
-Live footage of Mrs Frighthouse by @alteredwavestudio from our set at @thehugandpint in September 2024 with @malevich.band @chewingglasscollective Unmaking and @chou.band
