The rain has stopped, the clouds have opened to the sun, and the temperature has suddenly spiked. The air is full of the songs of the many of thr birds present here in the Spring: the Song Sparrow, the American Redstart, the Chipping Sparrow, the Brown Thrasher, the Gray Catbird, this evening, and many more in the mornings. And the Eastern Phoebe continues to nest in compromised places. They are actively breeding, and nesting under the eaves of the house, one over by the kitchen window and another one or more under the front porch eaves.. That's a little frustrating for me, and I expect it will be for them. My activity in and out on the front porch will be an interruption. And already my activity in the kitchen seems to be problematic. When they hear me, they seem to drop directly down from the nest before flying off and when they return they hover for a moment looking at me through the window trying to figure out what to do, whether I'm friend or foe. I wish I could tell them.
