Ever wonder why avoidants take longer to come back?
It’s not that they don’t care.
It’s that they’re wired for distance. Space feels safer than closeness when emotions get overwhelming.
They don’t process pain the same way as others—they shut down to protect themselves, not to hurt you.
It takes time for avoidants to feel safe enough to revisit emotions they tried to bury.
They often return… but only after they’ve had time to gather themselves and reflect without pressure.
So if it feels like they’ve forgotten you, it’s not always true.
They may just be trying to feel in control again.
