Scruffy - Pets As Therapy

Celebrate Volunteers at the launch of an award, in honour of Scruffy the PAT dog, who sadly passed nearly eighteen months ago. If you’d like to join us, please DM.
The award will be presented annually to a Volunteer who will have made an outstanding contribution within the WTWA One MFT Clinical Group.
Scruffy introduced dog therapy to Wythenshawe Hospital, North Manchester General Hospital and a Hospital outside of the Group, Salford Royal, in addition to being a Volunteer at the RMCH and Trafford General, within the Moorside Unit. His volunteering took him into many different environments including schools, a hospice, lunch groups, veterans charities, care homes and many more.
He was the first therapy dog to walk the corridors and roam the wards of Wythenshawe Hospital and was very quickly taken to the hearts of everyone he met. He absolutely loved every Visitor, Patient, Porter, Nurse, Researcher, Doctor, Secretary, Ward Manager... the list goes on and on, as you know. He knew every inch of the place, learning the quick exits for his toilet breaks and where the cheese was kept but in all seriousness, there is nowhere he would rather have been than helping folk at this Hospital. Which is why this award has come about, to link his name to the place he loved with an award to the people who make it the wonderful place it is!
