11.07.2025 The DG NAFDAC, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, and her team paid a working visit to the DG PEBEC, Princess Zahrah Mustapha-Audu.

The meeting with NAFDAC aimed to clarify their mandate and finalize a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON). Key outcomes from the MOU include:

• Reduced Regulatory Burden
Minimizing the compliance load on businesses through collaborative efforts.

• Joint Inspections:Conducting joint inspections where applicable to enhance efficiency and reduce duplication of efforts.

• Mutual Recognition: Relying on each other’s certification to avoid redundant regulatory requirements and alleviate the burden on businesses.

• Streamlined Regulation: Ensuring both agencies do not over-regulate businesses, promoting a more favorable operating environment.

This collaboration seeks to foster a more efficient and business-friendly regulatory environment in Nigeria.

Discussions centred on regulatory frameworks, reviewing and aligning the mandate of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) with other regulatory agencies in the Food and Beverage Service Optimization Committee (FBSOC) to strengthen inter-agency coordination.
