Congrats to Austin Nash, winner of the trip to hang with me @galaxyconraleigh Nightmare Weekend! Austin was AWESOME and we had a fun night at Circa 1888, a cool historic lounge 🥂 Thanx to Austin and all of the 3800 fans who generously donated to @savethechimps — we raised a grand total of $50,400 for the sanctuary! Your donations support vet care and food for 200+ ex-lab chimps rescued, plus social enrichments like the upcoming Halloween party for the apes! 🎃 #cassandrapeterson #elvira #elviramistressofthedark #savethechimps

Netflix is making some major cuts to its workforce. The streaming giant announced Wednesday (Oct. 14) that it’s laying off approximately 1,000 employees, accounting for roughly 6% of its workforce. According to CNBC, the cuts will primarily affect workers in the product, technology, legal, and human resources departments. In a memo to employees, #Netflix co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters explained that the company must be strategic about its resources, despite remaining financially strong. “Our business is strong and growing, and we remain on track to deliver our full year forecast,” the executives wrote, adding that Netflix plans to continue investing in areas that support growth and innovation. The layoffs come just weeks after Sarandos admitted Netflix was “not growing as fast as I want.” While the company remains a streaming powerhouse, viewership has reportedly stalled. Netflix is also facing increased competition from #YouTube and the planned combination of Paramount+ and #HBOMax. Netflix is scheduled to report its latest quarterly earnings on Oct. 20.
I’ve been planning my weeks following this same rhythm each Sunday for at least the last 4 years. In the early years, it wasn’t as necessary to plan ahead so much… but as our homeschool and family grew, so did my need for mapping things out ahead of time. Btw I’m using the Salas Living Lesson Keeper here, highly recommend 😉 for all my favorite homeschool things, just comment SUNDAY for the 🔗 to be sent to your DMs! First I check my calendar and make note of what’s going on for the week ahead, check the weather (I will absolutely want soup and freshly baked bread for a rainy day), and take quick inventory of what’s in the fridge and pantry. I plan our meals in the “weekly overview” section of my planner. It’s undated so if I miss a week it’s no big deal. I also add in any notes for things I’d like to bake or snacks to prep, and jot down any appts, outings, big tasks, or events, per day to reference when I’m looking at the meals throughout the week. Next I gather all my curriculum guides or chapter books and just fill in what’s next. If we missed a lesson the week prior, I’ll just add that into the current week. Morning Time is for Bible, discipleship, hymns, prayer and our read-aloud books. We generally do this in the morning ofc but sometimes it’s during breakfast, other days it’s after time outside, and some days it’s in the afternoon (lol) if we had a busy morning out. We do prioritize this though! I next add in our “together” subjects for each day; history, science, co-op (enrichment subjects), geography, and anything we plan on doing together that week. I try to focus on one “main” subject per day and then add in anything else if we’re able to. I’ve found this is more sustainable than trying to load us up and then feeling like I’m always behind. Then I fill in their individual things; math, grammar, narrations, etc. I also would generally take time to either fill out or have the kids write in their Daily Delights notebooks, which have 5 things for them to check off each day (can be homeschool or chores or whatever), but the baby woke up and that was that! Hope this helps!!! 🫶🏻
