HALLOWEEN!!!!!! 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Actor Macaulay Culkin, best known for his role in Home Alone, recreated the famous Thousand Yard Stare meme for Halloween, dressing as a traumatised soldier with a military helmet, camouflage face paint and an exhausted expression. His costume closely resembles the haunting artwork inspired by a photograph of a US Marine during the Battle of Eniwetok in 1944. The original image became an enduring symbol of the psychological toll of warfare, capturing the vacant expression often associated with extreme combat stress. Culkin’s recreation brought the historic image into modern pop culture, highlighting just how recognisable the famous stare has become. 🎃🪖
🇯🇲💚 #DestinConrad continues to give new meaning to a dancehall record with a complicated history. Originally released by T.O.K. in 2001, “Chi-Chi Man” became infamous for its violent anti-gay lyrics, so much so that the group eventually stopped performing it live. Now, Destin has reimagined the record on his ROADRUNNER album, turning it into a celebration of identity while honoring a longstanding tradition of queer Caribbean communities reclaiming the infectious riddim at parties and transforming it into an expression of resilience. (SWIPE) Family, y’all here for it?
