At least four people—including three children and one adult—have been killed following an active shooter incident at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. Law enforcement officials initially estimated that up to five people may be dead, noting that the death toll remains preliminary as investigators continue to clear the scene. The shooter, identified by law enforcement sources as a 16-year-old male, is also dead. He was shot and killed inside the school shortly after the attack began, though authorities have not yet confirmed if he was neutralized by arriving police officers or by a bystander. The Bend Police Department received a 911 call at 12:59 p.m. reporting a man firing a weapon into a vehicle outside the school. Within a minute, multiple additional emergency calls reported that the shooter had entered the building and opened fire. Beyond the immediate fatalities, at least two wounded victims were rushed by medics to a local hospital. Their medical conditions have not yet been released. Hundreds of law enforcement officers from local agencies, the Oregon State Police, and the FBI responded to secure the building. Officers conducted a room-by-room sweep to safely evacuate between 400 and 450 students alongside the school’s staff members. The school district established a designated family reunification point nearby at Journey Church. Authorities have requested that parents and community members avoid the immediate perimeter of Silver Rail Elementary while the scene remains under active investigation. (📸: @gettyimages)
