This past year has really taught me that art truly helps navigate and make sense of this world we live in, and sometimes even in our own lives. Me and Addi have been friends since 7th grade, and this song truly has navigated us both through some of our hardest high school moments.
Unfortunately, I was recently told that I will need to have a brain tumor surgically removed, and I will not be attending my first semester of college this fall due to recovery. I asked Addi to do this song a couple of days ago, after the realization that I now have to say goodbye to my best friend, along with all the other seniors, as they move on to a new chapter of their lives and I must wait. However, this song reminds me that I am not simply standing still, but I am meant to live in the moment- not some place in the past or future. I hope that we can all be reminded that throughout any stage of life, the only thing we can do is move on~ to move forward into the light.
In other words, please enjoy me and Addi sobbing while attempting to sing our most treasured song from the most beautiful musical.
