Bucket list bass #2, another vintage @gibsonguitar I didn’t think I’d own any time soon, but fortunately this one crossed my path with a little help from good friend and Gear Addiction enabler @dakotascoolguitars

This is the legendary 1961 Gibson EB-3, made famous by an equally legendary Bassist Jack Bruce of Cream. This bass combines the two flavors of Gibson bass tone I absolutely adore, Super Subby in the Neck pup, and Super Snarky/Midrange Punch from the Bridge Pup. Being a short scale it also pretty much plays itself, especially when strung up w/ @labellastrings Low Tension Flats.
Of course there was a bit of a catch with how I came to acquire this instrument. It was a project with quite a nasty headstock break (last pic) with multiple previous repair attempts according to my tech. Fortunately my tech Jody who I enlisted to restore this bass worked his magic and it shows, the repair is near seamless now and unless you really examine it closely you wouldn’t be able to tell from a glance. Overall I’m stoked to own this thing and can’t wait to play it out on a stage or in a studio!
