Today was the slowest marathon I’ve ever run & it’s the one I’m most proud of. I’ve never wanted to quit a race more. My legs were done at mile 14, I *tried* to quit at mile 19 but I’m not sure how to? I walked into a medical tent & they just gave me a Tylenol & Vaseline on a stick, so I kept going. Then I got a text (2nd slide) from my 9 year old (via my wife) and I decided I was going to finish even if I had to walk the rest of the way. The video in slide 3 is me telling him at mile 22 he’s the reason I’m still running. Somehow I was able to get running again & finished with a smile on my face. I am so grateful for my family. I am so grateful for New York City and I am so grateful for everyone who took a moment out of their day to cheer me on. Apologies if I miss anyone here! In 2001, waitress Jodee Berry became the centre of an unusual legal dispute after winning what she believed was a brand new Toyota in a workplace competition at a Hooters restaurant in Panama City Beach, Florida. After weeks of competing to sell the most beer, Berry was blindfolded and led outside to receive her prize. Instead of a car, she was handed a toy Yoda doll from Star Wars, revealing that the promised Toyota was actually a practical joke. Berry was furious and filed a lawsuit against the restaurant, accusing her employers of misleading her about the prize. She argued that the competition had been presented as a genuine opportunity to win a vehicle and that she had worked hard to earn it. In May 2002, the case was settled privately for an undisclosed amount. However, Berry’s attorney confirmed that the settlement was generous enough for her to purchase any Toyota she wanted. What began as an April Fools’ prank ultimately became a widely reported example of how workplace jokes can lead to serious legal consequences. 🚗⚖️ #history #starwars #movies #facts
Mannat may be undergoing renovation, but the birthday celebrations outside its gates carried on. Shah Rukh Khan greeted fans gathered outside his Mumbai residence on November 2, waving to the crowd and striking his signature arms-wide-open pose as cheers rang out. The actor turned 61 on Monday. The Bandra landmark also became a giant canvas for the occasion. Large projections illuminated Mannat with visuals and dialogues from his upcoming film King, giving fans waiting outside another reason to celebrate. Among the displays was a handwritten message from the actor himself. “Thank you all for your wishes and love. Sending mine right back to you all,” the message read, ending with a promise of love and a big hug. Shah Rukh had skipped his customary midnight appearance, with his home undergoing extensive reconstruction and expansion. However, his later greeting gave the waiting crowd the birthday moment they had come for—another wave from the star outside the home that has become synonymous with him.
