In May 2020, 24 year old cryptocurrency trader Andre Zachary Rebelo killed his 58 year old mother, Colleen, in Perth, Australia, allegedly to collect $1.15 million AUD in life insurance money. Just a week before her death, he had secretly taken out three policies in her name using a fake email account, making himself the sole beneficiary. At the time, he was dating Instagram influencer Gracie Piscopo, and despite their glamorous online lifestyle filled with luxury travel and expensive purchases, the couple were reportedly struggling with more than $100,000 in debt. Colleen was found dead in the shower of her Bicton home on May 25, 2020, and investigators later determined that Andre had staged the scene to make her death appear natural. He quickly filed insurance claims but raised suspicions when he submitted forged documents, including a will and a fake coroner’s certificate. After an extensive investigation, he was convicted of murder and sentenced on April 1, 2025, to life imprisonment with a minimum of 25 years before parole eligibility. He later abandoned his appeal in September 2026. @oddlyhorrifying posts the creepiest photos on instagram daily
