One week ago on August 8th, Huey Ray was born, weighing 8 pounds 8 ounces. He entered this world fiercely and swiftly as I expected he might. We say our first born son, Finley Haze, completed our world. Now Huey has expanded it. Born on the peak day of the Lions Gate Portal, 8/8, Huey Ray brings a new beginning and a strong energy that we can already feel amplifying our whole life.

I woke up that morning feeling something different, with a primal instinct to walk around outside under the shade of our willow tree. Birthed at home alongside my husband and midwife, Huey arrived in just under 2 hours in the birth pool. All I could think to myself was to trust my baby, trust my body, and just surrender to it all. Huey knew he was ready and I was the gateway to bringing him Earthside. This postpartum experience has been patient and slow, thanks to my husband and my parents, my midwife and my dear friends. I feel truly grateful to be so nourished and supported during this intense time of healing and bonding.

Huey is a family name on Scott’s side. Signifying “heart, mind, and spirit”, or Bright in Mind and Spirit. While Ray is a middle name passed down on my dad’s side, Huey Ray feels fitting for this little leo lion. We are so excited to see our two courageous boys connect over time, and to feel our new dynamic as a family of four fall into place.
