Iโ€™m excited about these fused basket pieces, and looking forward to making more at different scales and pushing the limits of how high they can go. These pieces are sculpted separately, and fused in the kiln firing. Come visit this work and more at booth M7 @untitledartfairs โœจ by @rebeca.proctor

And just like that, our little Huey Ray is one year old. How is it that this was simultaneously the longest hardest year of my life and also the most beautiful whirlwind Iโ€™ve ever experienced?! Life is a lot more vibrant, a lot louder, a lot more chaotic, a lot more to balanceโ€ฆ and so so full of complete utter joy. Huey Ray came into our world smiling, just so happy to join our little tribe. Heโ€™s taught me to trust myself and shown me that I can do anything with a baby in my arms. I just keep soaking in the purest love Iโ€™ve ever known and Iโ€™m realizing thatโ€™s all that really matters๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’— @scotprocpots Pictures from Hueyโ€™s first trip to Michigan, and some favorites from the past year. by @rebeca.proctor

๐˜—๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ๐˜ต๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ ๐˜Š๐˜ณ๐˜ช๐˜ฆ๐˜ด, 2025-2026 Soda fired ceramic & glaze This piece held me through 10 months of my second phase of matrescence that has truly rocked me to my core. From sincerely deep, dark lows to radiant highs, the ride through this profound transformation has been marked by visceral experiences that have forever left their imprint on my nervous system. Iโ€™ll never forget standing in the shower during those early postpartum days, hot water running down my face, savoring a rare moment alone with myself where my body felt like mine again, if only briefly. Then Iโ€™d hear it: the faint but piercing cry of my newborn baby. Sometimes the cries were real. Many times, they werenโ€™t. Auditory hallucinations pulling me back into the relentless rhythm of caregiving. My body and mind no longer knew where I ended and motherhood began. This piece became a witness to all of it. It held the grief of what was changing, the beauty of what was emerging, and the tension of becoming someone I had never been before. This season of life has changed me in ways I am still discovering. Itโ€™s stretched me, unraveled me, and slowly begun to weave me back together into someone new. I donโ€™t think matrescence is something we move through and leave behindโ€ฆ it becomes part of us, etched into our bodies, our minds, our hearts. I feel so deeply connected to all of the mothers Iโ€™ve ever known and Iโ€™m thinking of all of you ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’— xoxo ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’— Photos by @lucero.studio #motherartist #contemporaryceramicart by @rebeca.proctor

Meet the Artists | Friends Fair Edition Rebeca Proctor (@rebeca.proctor) is an artist based in Central Texas whose current practice responds to the tensions embedded within the domestic roles of maternal life. Working primarily in clay, she creates quiet monuments to the careful work of mothering, to the repetition of domestic labor, and to the abundance that can exist even in monotony. Her work teeters between at once utilitarian objects and symbolic sculptures - containing, protecting, and bearing the weight of it all while seeking moments of personal transformation amidst the overwhelm. Rebecaโ€™s practice continues to evolve alongside her experience of raising two young children in the countryside outside of Austin, TX. She received her BFA in Studio Art in 2018 from the University of Texas at Austin where she focused on bronze casting and mixed media sculpture. She has held internships and residencies at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, Colorado and Penland School of Craft in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Her recent exhibitions include Soft Opening at DORF Gallery and Ainโ€™t Hold Much; Ainโ€™t Too Much to Hold at Co-Lab Projects. Proctor is co-owner of @eastsidepotshop, a community ceramics studio in East Austin, and co-founder of @nomceramics. RSVP via ๐Ÿ”— and visit us in Room #219 at @friendsfair.art, this week!
