Happy Mother’s Day to the nurturer of plants, animals, children, and all of our hearts. We love you so much! @rebeca.proctor by @scotprocpots

I lost my father this week, the best man I’ve ever known, the best father a boy could ask for. I miss you so much ❤️. Dan Scott Proctor, age 79, of Marquette, Michigan, passed away peacefully on December 2nd at Eastwood Nursing Home after a long struggle with Alzheimers.

Dan was born on October 29th, 1946 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, the son of Joe and Phillis (Rutledge) Proctor. He attended the University of Michigan, where he earned his dental degree. It was also in Ann Arbor where he met his future wife of 52 years, Marilyn (Huey) Proctor.

Dan loved life, family and U of M. He spent the next 40 years in Saginaw, Michigan practicing dentistry and raising two children, Courtney (of Marquette, Michigan) and Scott (of Elgin, Texas). Dan enjoyed camping and skiing with friends and family, and always made time to return to his alma mater for football games.

Retirement brought Dan, Marilyn and their Newfie Sadie to their log cabin in the woods outside of Marquette. There they were able to spend time with friends and family , enjoy the natural beauty of the U.P. and spend quiet afternoons on their deck taking in the view of Lake Superior. For ten summers they made wonderful memories traveling to Camp Michigania with their grandchildren, Ona and Ari Dalman.
They also frequently traveled to Texas to spend precious time with Scott, Rebeca and newest additions to the the family: Finley and Huey Proctor.

Dan was a devoted husband, father and brother. He is survived by his wife Marilyn, his daughter and son Courtney and Scott, his sister Wendy (Robert) Boes, and his grandchildren: Ona, Ari, Finley and Huey.

So let the tears fall when they come.
Let the laughter rise when memories bring warmth.
Let grief and joy coexist
For they are not opposites.
They are just love in different forms

My ♥️ @rebeca.proctor by @scotprocpots

What a whirlwind of a weekend. Through wind, rain, hail, toddler meltdowns and sleepless nights - we made it through our sixth @texasclayfestival and saw so many pots find new homes. Thank you to all of our patrons, friends, and family for your support. Specifically my parents and my brother - we really couldn’t have done this without you. Clay Fest looks different for us each year... This one felt the hardest, having a toddler and a newborn, but our little village came together to help us succeed. Thank you a million times over! by @scotprocpots

Soda fired cone 11. Underglaze, flashing slip, glazes by @scotprocpots

One week ago on August 8th, Huey Ray was born, weighing 8 pounds 8 ounces. He entered this world fiercely and swiftly as I expected he might. We say our first born son, Finley Haze, completed our world. Now Huey has expanded it. Born on the peak day of the Lions Gate Portal, 8/8, Huey Ray brings a new beginning and a strong energy that we can already feel amplifying our whole life.

I woke up that morning feeling something different, with a primal instinct to walk around outside under the shade of our willow tree. Birthed at home alongside my husband and midwife, Huey arrived in just under 2 hours in the birth pool. All I could think to myself was to trust my baby, trust my body, and just surrender to it all. Huey knew he was ready and I was the gateway to bringing him Earthside. This postpartum experience has been patient and slow, thanks to my husband and my parents, my midwife and my dear friends. I feel truly grateful to be so nourished and supported during this intense time of healing and bonding.

Huey is a family name on Scott’s side. Signifying “heart, mind, and spirit”, or Bright in Mind and Spirit. While Ray is a middle name passed down on my dad’s side, Huey Ray feels fitting for this little leo lion. We are so excited to see our two courageous boys connect over time, and to feel our new dynamic as a family of four fall into place.

In no particular order, these pictures are from the final weeks of my pregnancy with Huey, the morning before labor began when my body was giving me signals that that would be the day, the moments surrounding his birth, and the days following…
