University of Washington Plastic Surgery

It’s time to meet one of your new favorite @plasty.patrol faces, @adrianmarkewych ! Adrian grew up in Washington State. He studied Neuroscience at the University of Washington and earned his MD at Rush Medical College. His path to Plastic Surgery was shaped by years serving as a ski patroller and Seattle EMT—experiences that cemented his passion for restoring form, function, and identity for patients after injury.   

Why UW? Adrian was drawn to our high clinical volume and multi-state catchment, the close-knit culture he felt while shadowing Dr. Friedrich, and the opportunity to serve the communities that raised him, making UW feel like home.   

On the academic side, Adrian brings first-author work on amputation-related pain and complex limb reconstruction, and his research has been presented nationally, graduating in the top of his class and earning a Certificate of Distinction in the Scholar role.     

Outside the OR, you’ll find him on a mountain or a river, searching for the next best Thai restaurant, or spending quality time with friends on a neighborhood patio.
