We Canadians absolutely devour compliments from foreigners, especially famous ones who we adore. The interviewers’ blushing giggles at the end are the epitome of this lol. Truth is, we need the validation because we are a very self-conscious people. We live next door to the world’s biggest, loudest, most powerful country, which leaves us with an unavoidable inferiority complex. ‘‘tis what ‘tis.
