Welcome to “Hanging Garden”, a group exhibition curated by Slekke!
Opening: September 11th 18:00-21:00.
Where: Tenthaus, Maridalsveien 3, Oslo
Duration: 11th September - 21st September, open daily, 14:00 - 18:00.
Exhibiting artists: Annike Flo & Lexie Owen, Frederikke Jul Vedelsby, Hirendran Sivaganam
ANNIKE FLO + LEXIE OWEN have worked collaboratively as an artistic duo since 2022, while also maintaining independent practices. Lexie’s independent work focuses on social practice, and the development of structures that support collaboration and collaborative actions, while Annike’s is focused on material explorations that unfold relationships between the human and non-human. Together they are interested in understanding how a social practice might work when removed from a focus on the anthropocentric, inviting in the agencies of other entities from living organisms to “inanimate” beings such as rocks. Practically their work unfolds in a variety of manners, including participatory performances, workshops, interactive installations and publications.
At Tenthaus, Annike & Lexie present their new project titled THE NECROMANTIC KITCHEN. Thinking back to a time when death and dying were domestic processes, when death was always a guest in our houses, Necromantic Kitchen connects the metabolic action of decomposition with human digestion and everyday kitchen magic — fermentation, and other transformative food processes such as butter churning.

Hanging Garden dwells ten days at the gallery rooms of Tenthaus, and journeys around graveyards of Oslo, on air at InterFM, online, at P1 in Hersleb Schoolyard, into Boksen, and back. In its lifetime, the program metabolizes exhibition, workshop, radio broadcast, screening, performance and participation in Oslo Kulturnatt.
