Miss Oklahoma

As I think about this week, I can’t help but reflect on exactly what the #missamericaopportunity really means. I’ve learned there are a few facets to achieving and succeeding in your opportunity. It starts with working hard to be the best version of yourself in each aspect of your life. From thinking on your feet, becoming more authentic to yourself, becoming more confident, treating your body with kindness and becoming a mentor for all. I’ve also learned, at the core of the Miss America opportunity is hope. For myself, it was always hope that I could make it to just compete at a local. Hope that I would finally get to a point in my life where I’d love myself enough to compete proudly in a pageant. Hope, that each girl who hears my story knows that she belongs in this organization too. Hope that I will make special education better in this country with Partners Club. The Miss America opportunity has healed a part of me that was broken for so long. This new era will be one where every girl and woman feels welcomed when she chooses to seize her opportunity. Regardless of what happens, I made little Tessa proud and I am so happy to have done it as I represent my home, Oklahoma.
