The laugavegur trail
After guiding the trail for the 10th time this season, I realize the Laugavegur has become a special place for me.
The first summer in Iceland I hiked this trail four times in horrible weather and with absolutely no time for myself, due to poor planning and a lot of material breaking down, I thought I would never want to return to this place!
The second season piked up. We still had a lot of heavy rain, the the team was great and… well, it did not rain all day.
They say third time’s the charm and at least were the Icelandic weather and I are concerned, that seems to be the case.
Not only was the weather something close to what you’d recognize as summer, this year I could sneak in some running in between guiding and discover new twists and turns to an already breathtaking trail. It’s a place I’ve learned to appreciate and who knows, maybe I do want to return for a fourth season.
