A new government project is underway to strengthen flood resilience in Thimphu, Phuentshogling, and Samtse. The Nu 58 M project aims to protect lives, livelihoods, and key urban infrastructure from growing flood risks caused by climate change and urbanisation.

The project is expected to enhance flood forecasting and early warning systems, train officials, and improve risk-based urban planning.

To learn more about the project, our reporter, Deki Lhazom, spoke with Sonam Tshewang, the Geographic Information System officer of the Department of Local Governance and Disaster Management.
