TNHT Staff: @fashionswarrior _______ Neighbors, this is nasty as hell! A Washington, D.C., woman says the rat problem at her apartment complex has gotten so out of control that she popped the hood of her car and discovered it was infested with rodents. Willette Joyner, who has lived at Parkway Plaza in Northeast D.C. for more than 20 years, says she broke down in tears. “I started crying. I didn’t know which way to go,” she recalled. Joyner says rats have even jumped out of trash cans, and she blames the worsening infestation on overflowing garbage and poorly maintained sidewalks. _______ Joyner says she contacted management company Borger Residential and even asked a manager to inspect her vehicle, but his only response was, “I’m sorry.” Community advocates have since helped her contact several D.C. agencies and her Ward 5 councilmember. Former neighborhood commissioner Jacqueline Manning says residents deserve better, declaring, “You want us to pay taxes, you want us to pay rent, you want us to age in place in the District of Columbia, treat us well.” She also fears colder weather could drive even more rats into residents’ cars and homes. _______ Meanwhile, D.C. lawmakers are considering the “REMY” Act, which would strengthen rodent-control enforcement and introduce a pilot program for rat-proof trash cans. The proposal could also allow the city to charge negligent property owners up to three times the cost of addressing infestations. The legislation recently cleared its first committee vote. _________ 🎥: @7newsdc
Allow me to reintroduce myself. 🤎 I’m Milan Zoé. Strategist by nature, builder by calling, storyteller at heart. If there’s one through line in everything I’ve done, it’s strategy. The ability to see the bigger picture, connect seemingly unrelated dots, recognize opportunity, and turn a vision into something tangible. That instinct has taken me across entertainment, culture, brand building, entrepreneurship, wellness, real estate, and community. Different industries, different expressions, but the same foundation: understanding what’s possible and figuring out how to make it happen. I’m passionate about helping big thinkers build bigger, creating opportunities where others see limitations, and bringing the right people, ideas, and resources together to make meaningful things move. Beyond the work, I’m a woman committed to building a life with intention. One rooted in faith, expansive in possibility, rich in experiences, and defined by more than what I can accomplish. So, around here, expect strategy, business, culture, wellness, faith, travel, real estate, beautiful experiences, and the occasional plot twist. If you’re new here, welcome to my world. If you’ve been here, thank you for being part of the evolution. There’s still so much to build and I am appreciative that you are along for the ride 🤎
Embracing a new chapter with an open heart and high hopes. Happy birthday to me 🎂🎂
Lady accuses police officers of allegedly intimidating, handcuffing and extorting over ₦300,000 from her in Victoria Island, Lagos A Nigerian lady has accused police officers of allegedly intimidating, handcuffing and allegedly collecting over ₦300,000 from her during an encounter in Victoria Island, Lagos. In a video circulating online, the visibly distressed lady was seen crying by the roadside at night as she recounted her experience. According to her, the officers stopped and detained her while she was returning from the beach. She claimed they handcuffed her and later dropped her off in Victoria Island. She also alleged that she attempted to record the encounter, but the video was not saved. The lady said she was forced to borrow money and reached out to several friends, asking them to send ₦20,000 each, but none came through for her. She added that her mother, with whom she had been having disagreements, was the only person who eventually sent her money. 📹: TT/@oriyomiabeje1
