Millennials are built different

The last few heartfelt conversations I’ve had with people have left me thinking about how much uncertainty so many of us are carrying.

Behind familiar smiles are unfamiliar struggles. Behind “I’m good” are worries that keep people awake at night. So many people are silently trying to hold their lives together while wondering when things will finally get easier.

Yesterday, I came across several videos, one after another, of young people crying. Different faces and circumstances, but beneath their tears, I could sense they were all longing for the same thing: to be okay and know they’re going to be okay.

To be honest, I think that sometimes the hardest part of what we’re going through isn’t even the pain itself. It’s actually the uncertainty of not knowing how long it will last. We fear what comes next, and whether the life we’re hoping for is still going to manifest as we want it to.

I wish I could reach through the screen and gently remind every person who feels lost right now that their story is still unfolding. That this difficult chapter is not the whole book, and even when they cannot see a way forward, it doesn’t mean they won’t find one.

One practice that has carried me through some of my own darkest and most uncertain moments is prayer.

And it’s not always because prayer has changed my circumstances, but because it has often changed how I’ve been able to meet them. It has given me somewhere to place the weight of things I could no longer carry alone.

So today, I’d like to offer you a prayer. You don’t have to believe in anything to receive it. You don’t have to share my understanding of the divine. Just take whatever speaks to your heart, and leave whatever doesn’t.

And if life feels particularly heavy right now, I hope these words find the part of you that has been trying so hard to stay strong.

#Clique, imagine being told you’re the evil one for calling the police after your husband puts his hands on you! 😳

Arizona pastor Steven Anderson of Faithful Word Baptist Church is facing backlash over a sermon in which he called women who report their abusive husbands to police “evil.”

And he didn’t stop there. Anderson also condemned wives who secretly record alleged physical or marital s*xual abuse to provide evidence to authorities.

Iranian security forces and plainclothes officers broke up a Halloween gathering in central Tehran on Friday evening, beating and detaining people and forcing nearby cafes to close, witnesses and sources told Iran International.

Young people wearing Halloween costumes and makeup had gathered on Iranshahr Street, a popular area for cafes and cultural activities near Tehran's Artists Park (Park Honarmandan), when traffic police and local police officers blocked the road, according to sources familiar with the incident.

Members of the Basij, a paramilitary force affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and plainclothes security personnel then moved in to disperse the crowd.

An eyewitness said the operation extended beyond those celebrating Halloween, with families spending the evening in Artists Park also ordered to leave.

"It was like the protests. They were running after people and shouting, 'Disperse!'" the witness told Iran International.
