To marriage.
Tiffany, I take your hand today, not in pacification of adulthood, or even a sacred promise. Today I take your hand so that we will no longer have to forge ourselves in separate fires. Today we combine our flames so that we may create beyond the sum of our parts in the garden of marriage. Friedrich Nietzsche said, “it’s obvious that all sense has gone out of modern marriage; which is, however no objection to marriage, but to modernity.”
The zealots of misery have much to say about marriage. The scars of love are loud and pronounced.
But how I wish that happiness left scars too. How I wish I could show them what I have found with the same conviction they have.
How I wish that I had evidence that “love” falls short of a description for what exists here today.
Tiffany, I have no concerns of what the world has to say now that you are here. I need nothing of life that you and I can not propagate upwards and beyond ourselves.
