Thank you @avenuepvd for inviting me to paint another utility box— and this time with the honor of participating in a cohort made up entirely of female POC artists. We teamed up with @195districtpark and were prompted to respond to Providence’s 2017 Climate Justice Plan Report under the theme of Eezis: the Natural World. Here’s my project “Future Story: Black Locust”

🌳”Future Story: Black Locust” 2025 🌳

I imagine Black Locust trees that are planted today, in 2025. Black Locust tree are a popular choice for tree plantings in our frontline communities as they are resilient, grow quickly, have rot resistant hardwood, and are a beautiful flowering species. I am inspired by the Future Stories Series that accompanies the Climate Justice Plan Report and create my own Future Story that illustrates what the Black Locust trees planted today will grow to become by 2040.

Shoutout to @lauren_kaneira for being such a wonderful help in this project as my painting assistant!

Shoutout also to @someonecomegettheydad for sharing their tree expertise!
