For the past 10 years Pao Art Center @paoartscenter has been putting on the celebratory, explorative, and creative festival, Experience Chinatown, with Boston’s Chinatown community. It’s been such a privilege to participate along side seven other incredible artists to collaborate with local Chinatown businesses and create murals as a part of this year’s #experiencechinatown I have a lot of gratitude for all the wonderful people involved with making this all happen: Thank you artists of this cohort for all the warmth, genuine support, inspiring thoughts and conversation, painting tips and tricks, positive encouragement, and friendship sparked between us this summer. ❤️‍🔥 @popilart @gorgoneia @jialipton @kwongster_k @nellbell_art @ykook.art @reginepaints 🐦‍🔥 And thank you to Alice and Terry at APM Coffee @apmcoffee for trusting in my creativity and for being my cheerleaders while painting! … And also for keeping me so deliciously caffeinated on this project! 🤍🍵 Anddd thank you to the extraordinary Maia @merp.slev for their ✨ superlative commitment to supporting and orchestrating our artist cohort for this year’s Experience Chinatown mural project. ☕ Presenting Experience Chinatown 2026 mural: “Coffee Plant: Our Past, Present, and Future” by Tate Won Chen @salty_scrawl located at APM Coffee @apmcoffee at 99 Kneeland St, Boston. This year, the muralists responded to the prompt, “What makes Chinatown abundant?” ☕ Tate shares, “Look closely at a coffee plant and you’ll see something unlike most plants. Fresh buds, full blooming flowers, ripe fruits, and new growth- all on the same branch, all at the same time. Abundance can be one big thing. It can also be individual qualities coming together all at once. This is also how community takes shape, and why our Chinatown is like this coffee plant branch.” Experience Chinatown is where you can discover a new take on Asian American Cultures. See, hear, create, and connect. Together, celebrate the rich cultural fabric of Boston Chinatown through free creative activities for all. #ExperienceChinatown Live performances and activities: Saturday, September 26 from 11-3 PM (Rain date Sunday, 9/27). Presenting RI’s native Tuliptree Thank you Jackson Creative Group for trusting in me fully and granting me full creative freedom on this project. I revamped this eye-sore of a utility box located directly in front of JCG’s studio entrance. There were a few factors that led me to paint the Tuliptree. I wanted to explore a less expected botanical to embrace Rhode Island’s ecological identity. I also wanted to accentuate that crisp vibrant green color of JCG’s logo with a palette that centralized that color precisely. Next door to Jackson Creative Group is the floral studio @flowersbysemia that creates exquisite floral arrangements in their own tier of sublime artistry. It was important to me to feature a botanical that would neither clash nor compete with the work done at their floral studio. And so… the Tuliptree taken in JacksonCreative Group by @salty_scrawl
