Yesterday the world stood still around us. We woke up and quickly found out it was time to rush Sabina to the ER and make the terrible but correct decision to say goodbye.

Sabina was my constant fuzzy sidekick while I worked from home, shadowing me every time I walked from my desk to the bathroom or kitchen. I heard every hairball, mrow, and tippy-tap across the wood floor. The home we’ve built in Chicago already feels so empty without her giant personality.

She lived to 20, which is a huge gift she gave us. I won’t take it for granted. She was rambunctious, sassy, and so full of love for myself and especially Tyler — til the very end. I loved being a witness to her absolute adoration of T. They were besties. She healed us every time we were sad or sick. She had the best comedic timing. I love her so much, and will continue to treasure her forever.
