🍺MEET THE BREWER: James Vance @rivalbrewvancey
James will be brewing the beer paired with our Carrot Cake with Pineapple Bourbon Icing, a dessert as bold and layered as his brewing journey.
When he’s not behind the tanks, James is behind the lens. He develops his own film and is diving into cinematography, always exploring new ways to capture craft and creativity.
His brewing story started in 2007 as a homebrewer, eventually taking him through the Southeast with Iron Heart Canning Co. before joining a Birmingham-based brewery, where he worked his way from cellarman to Director of Operations. Now in his third year as Head Brewer at @back40bham , James continues to blend precision and artistry, one pint at a time.
Favorite style: “I honestly have no idea because it changes all the time, but if I had to choose one beer to drink for the rest of my life it would probably be a Märzen or Vienna Lager. A little malty but clean. Refreshing, yet with a bit more body and depth than lighter styles. Overall, I’m a big lager fan in general.”
Favorite pairing: “A cold beer and the feeling of having clocked out for the week. Haha.” Trust me, you don’t want to miss this delicious pairing!
