I love to see the good guys win. 🤌🏼 On Tuesday Ryan hosted an incredibly chic lunch at one of our all time favourite restaurants - Petersham nurseries, in Richmond - to celebrate WRITING. The occasion marked the publication of his 52nd ‘ letter to Leo ‘ which is an important series that he launched last year where he writes a letter to our son every week. It’s a fascinating read (especially from a mother’s perspective) to deep dive into the brain of a masculine man navigating fatherhood in an ever changing modern world. He co-hosted the lunch with the absolutely luminous children’s author Rachel bright… whom we’ve both fought over for many years. (I must have read the camel who had the hump 100+ times over the paat 5 years because it puts me in an incomparably joyful mood, especially when I read out the words yooooo hooooo rise and shine in a funny voice) … cuthbert being in a grump is very relatable and very good for having a subtle discussion with your child about how unacceptable tantrums are 😂 She is such a brilliant writer but also such an incredibly mentor for Ryan as they share so many values. RL - I’m always so proud of what you achieve especially because everything you do so authentic and intentional … no one can ever rush you or steer you off course. You can’t act, you won’t pretend, and you certainly won’t put on a mask. Probably why this felt like such a dream pairing. It screamed of authenticity. Sadly we live in a world where everything is moving towards the unification of personalities, concepts, identities - and also a total lack of creativity (we’re basically living through machines) and becoming exceptionally lazy, but strangely efficient at the same time. Ryan is someone who celebrates doing things in his own way in his own time (he hates to be told what to do) so is probably a ‘true creative’. The day I learnt to accept that, the day i realised we were gonna stay togehrrr forever. ♾️ Tuesday was a real celebration of slowness, analog living, nostalgia, and an opportunity to share incredibly inspiring stories about the ‘right thing happening at just the right time’ and trusting the process….
