✜ PLAY IS THE WAY .:. 2026 Moon Calendar ✜
Fun little story about the making of this year’s lunar calendar— I scrapped two attempts before landing on the one you see here. The first was a gouache and watercolour design, which I quickly bailed on after remembering I had never used gouache before and was essentially kneecapping myself. 🔫 The second was an acrylic painting on wood panel, but having to paint the teensy weensy details made me feel like a snarling ogre with sausage fingers— not ideal, not the best vibes to imbue inside a work of art.
That’s when my inner five-year-old came forward and was like, “We are not having fun, and fun is the whole point! Please, let me make something.” I love that little girl, so we pulled out the pencil crayons and markers, threw caution to the wind, and this is what she made! And I love it. It’s like a child’s altar of our most favourite things. The sun and moon, stars, plants, quilts, butterflies, maximal patterns, and a groovy 70s palette.
Honestly, this lesson has come back to me so 👏🏻 many 👏🏻 times 👏🏻 over the years. PLAY truly is THE WAY. The best shit arises from this spirit. Let’s drop the judgements, drop the “shoulds”, and let ourselves flow and feeeeel more, okay? 🙂↕️
So here you have it. May 2026 be a year we all welcome more play, more joy, and more ease back into our lives. 🌞
