After 30 years, the identity of “Green Boots,” the deceased Mt. Everest climber turned landmark, has been revealed his name is dorje morup, an indian mountaineer who died during a storm on everest in 1996. his body was left at approximately 27,900 feet along a popular climbing route, where his green boots made him recognizable to passing climbers over the next three decades, his body became an unofficial landmark used by climbers to track their progress toward the summit he was long believed to be named tsewang paljor, another climber who died during the same expedition, until recent DNA testing of his remains confirmed his identity his body still remains on everest, with plans underway to recover his remains and return them to his family.
