With my golf clothing brand on the way, nights like last night’s Q+A with Peter Cowen remind me why this sport has such a strong heartbeat.

For anyone who doesn’t know Peter, he’s one of the most respected coaches in the game. He's the man behind multiple major champions and Ryder Cup stars, and a huge influence on how modern golf is played. Hearing him share stories from life on tour and his decades of coaching was genuinely brilliant.

The standout message from Peter for me? The 3 R’s, a philosophy that works just as well in life as it does in golf:

1. Respect yourself – hold yourself in high regard, on the course and everywhere else.

2. Respect the people who helped you get here – family, friends, coaches, colleagues, whoever it may be. No one gets anywhere alone.

3. Responsible for your own actions – own your decisions and your outcomes. Look in the mirror before you point the finger.

Strong words worth carrying with you long after you leave the course!
