Life Lately: Making HISTORY 📈
I usually keep my work accomplishments over on LinkedIn, but I think this deserves to live over here as well. 💻
As of October 3rd of this year, I became 1 of 239 technical professionals at @amazonwebservices GLOBALLY, out of approximately 140,000, who currently holds every active technical AWS certification (currently 13 total) and earned my AWS Golden Jacket 🧥 . I’m also the first Black person in my organization at work to ever do it.
At the beginning of this year I only had 2 of the 13. 😳
Without making this too long, about a year ago I had transitioned into my new, challenging role at work as a Cloud Solutions Architect. In true fashion, I was deciding on ways I was going to push my career forward and keep the bar sky high. One thing led to another, and we landed here. It was quite the journey and this year has definitely been a test of discipline, being able to say no often, and keeping the main thing to main thing. My original goal was to finish before the end of the year but as the momentum built, I was able to accelerate things and finish the deal on my 3 year work anniversary.
At the beginning of the year I had 3 very simple goals. Be a standout at work, keep showing up for my community and those that matter, and grow my professional network substantially. Even with this crazy goal, I’ve been able to accomplish each of those things and I’m extremely proud of that.
I say all this to say, whatever that “thing” is that you have sitting in your notes that you can’t stop thinking about, go do it. Sit down today, write a plan, and make it happen. And don’t let anyone or anything get in the way of that. Lastly, thanks so much to my friends who always checked in, made sure I was good and staying on goal, and just supporting me throughout. Real ones ✊🏿
