Your meaning for belter is west coast - here in Dundee it means they are far from amazing a bit daft village idiot kinda thing. The gerry cinnamon song of the same name hits differently in Dundee!

This week for St Andrews’s I’m teaching my kiwi class Scottish slang words so far we’ve loved ‘sit doon on yer bahookie, wheeshit, braw’ extra hilarious hearing it in their kiwi accents 🤣
