Heart, Head, Hand | Material as Message
During Dubai Design Week, Double J Collective presented Heart, Head, Hand, a curatorial collaboration with Isola shaped by material intelligence, cultural authorship and sustainability. From this shared ethos, we created a space for objects that communicate through form and value.
Austėja Platūkytė introduced the Biomaterials Library, an expanding tactile archive of Baltic materials. Her work is a fusion of research and ritual, where algae, fungi and regional fibres become pedagogical artefacts.
Daniele Robbiati constructs sculptural tables using oxidised metal and recycled glass. His practice reflects time, decay and the layering of earth. The surfaces feel like fossils. The function is never divorced from the concept.
Elements Curations brought a sense of stillness to the space. Their solid wood forms, carved from single tree trunks, rely on scale, silence and minimal intervention. The process is not performative; it is patient.
The exhibition revealed how process, not polish, holds the soul of an object. Each maker affirms design as an act of care.
A selection of the pieces shown remains available at Double J Collective until the end of December.
