The Rebozo is a traditional shawl/scarf, handwoven by women for women. The beautiful Mexican tradition of using the Rebozo is handed down from mother to daughter, generation to generation, from midwife to midwife.
The rebozo arrived to Mexico with the Spaniards through colonization which arrived to the Spaniards via the Arabs.
It has become a significant and essential symbol of identity and part of the Mexican tradition and culture.
During La Cerrada Ceremony, the woman is tightly wrapped with 7 or 8 Rebozos. Physically, the precise Rebozo techniques guide her bones back into place - ensuring proper realignment, supporting pelvic stability, and overall physical well-being.
The ceremony assists in shifting pelvic organs back to their original positions. This process helps the uterus shrink down to its pre-pregnancy size and encourages optimal blood flow, supports tissue repair and overall vitality which promotes healing and recovery after childbirth. The ritual helps release tension from muscles, allowing the body to relax. This relaxation contributes to milk production and overall postpartum comfort.
