Dante Migone-Ojeda (b. 1993) is a Peruvian-American sculptor born in Southern Illinois and based in Queens, NY. Informed by his childhood in the American heartland as the child of immigrants, his practice is centered around syncretism as it reflects and arises from mestizaje and its colonial and neo-colonial violence. He received his MFA from Columbia University in 2019. He is a 2017-2019 Leroy Neiman Print Fellow, and a 2019 Wassaic Project Print Fellow. His shows include The Future is Latinx at Eastern Connecticut State University, 9999 at the Fireplace Project in Easthampton, DRAWN (OVER) at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Vojvodina, Serbia, Two Grains of Wheat at 601 Artspace, and Echo Locator at Field Projects. His work was also recently featured in The Body Show at Arts Warehouse in Delray Beach, FL, and Fragments: Reflections on Memory at Annemarie Sculpture Garden and Arts Center. He completed the 2019 summer program at SOMA in Mexico City, and contributed to their 10 year anniversary publication, X. Also in 2019, Migone-Ojeda was awarded a scholarship to attend a residency at Arquetopia in Puebla, Mexico. More recently, in 2024 he was a member of the Canopy Program cohort through the NYC Crit Club, and was an artist in residence at ChaNorth in October 2024.
