Looks like my gritty, tough, slightly jaded, loving, hard headed, wise, outspoken, adventurous Dad is counting his last hours in this journey of life.
Watching his decline this year has been tough, for sure… 73 years on planet earth is coming to a close now.
As I sit here with my family, I know that one of the greatest gifts I’ve ever experienced is learning to be still and be present in moments like these. I’m extremely thankful for that. Being able to process and accept is a very calming thing.
Inevitably, part of every single life on earth is transitioning out of this one life and into the next. The heavenly one. Peace. No pain.
It’s quite the overwhelming anomaly… just how quickly life can start and finish. Yet, what a journey it can be at times. Laughs. Memories. Experiences. Love.
At the end… it the last moments… I think the only thing that matters is family.. true friends… love.. and giving life as much as we can in our own way.
Nothing is perfect. No one is perfect Nothing is exact all the time. But having people that love and support you is about as rich as a person can get. Potentially, nothing else truly matters. At all. At least in my book.
Always Move Forward… AMF… Dad says. ❤️🙏🏼
…It’s an honor to be your son David Seelbinder, you ole goat. You’re in our hearts forever. You can move on when you’re ready or fight as long as you feel necessary. We love you.
***Here’s some photos just before Thanksgiving***
We were able to get Popi Dave up for a real shower for the first time in weeks. He was dressed sharp(all black of course), fresh haircut and beard trim, in his wheelchair, and out in the sunshine.
We did it three days in a row and each walk a little longer and each smile a little bigger.
Watching him close his eyes and smile when warm water hit his back and sunlight hit his face was something I’ll never forget, especially after how hard smiling has been since paralysis set in last summer.
I’m proud of him for saying yes to those moments and incredibly thankful I got to share them with him.
