Was it worth it? British adventurer Karl Bushby has finally returned to British soil after spending 28 years traveling around the world on foot. The 57-year-old former paratrooper began his journey in Chile in November 1998 and has since covered more than 31,000 miles across 29 countries. His journey included crossing the frozen Bering Strait, surviving dangerous jungles, and even swimming across the English Channel. He arrived in England on October 5, 2026, but still has roughly 250 miles left to walk before reaching his hometown of Hull. But there’s another side to this incredible achievement. Bushby left behind a young son when he started his expedition and now has a granddaughter he reportedly hasn’t met. What was originally supposed to take 12 years turned into nearly three decades of missed family milestones, visa complications, and extraordinary determination. Some see one of the greatest endurance achievements in modern history, while others question whether any adventure is worth that much time away from family.
This might ruffle a few feathers… I don’t believe women should automatically be prescribed HRT simply because they’ve entered perimenopause. And before anyone jumps in with “but HRT changed my life” - wonderful. I’m genuinely glad it did. This isn’t about taking that away from you. But I know you could be feeling better. Because I see it on the daily. It’s about asking some questions that I don’t think we’re asking loudly enough. Where is the long-term research following women who START hormone replacement while they’re still menstruating and continue for the next 10, 15 or 20 years? There isn’t any. And what happens when we treat a natural hormonal transition as something that automatically needs replacing? And why aren’t we spending just as much time teaching women how to support their nervous systems, metabolic health, sleep, stress response and changing hormonal needs? Yes, HRT may be a tool in your toolkit. But it may only take you so far. Women deserve solutions from debilitating symptoms. But perimenopause isn’t a hormone deficiency diagnosis simply because you’ve turned 40. Your hormones are changing. Your body is adapting. And there is so much we can do to support that process. I see women every week who have been made to feel terrified of what’s coming. That their bodies are failing them. That they’re destined for weight gain, poor sleep, anxiety and a long list of symptoms unless they intervene. I don’t believe fear should be driving these decisions. I believe in informed choices, individualised care and giving women the tools to understand their bodies before assuming there’s only one solution. And if you’ve chosen HRT? This isn’t an attack on your decision. It’s a challenge to the idea that every woman needs to make the same one. **It’s really not as hard as they’re having you think it is.** Follow along if you want a different conversation about perimenopause.
After losing all her puppies and spending 5 months learning to trust again, Sally is finally ready for someone to choose her 🥹❤️ Sally came to Dodo editor @themobtrio with so much stacked against her: a fearful black pittie mix grieving the loss of her entire litter. And even after fostering more than 30 animals, Monica knew Sally would need extra time to feel safe, despite immediately finding comfort in her boyfriend Kaleb. Five months later, she’s come so far and is ready for the one thing she’s still missing: a family of her own. Sally is adoptable in Los Angeles with @wagsandwalks! Mohammed Shami has taken a sarcastic swipe at his continued exclusion from India’s national team 👀 After claiming 4/30 for Bengal against Delhi in the Ranji Trophy, Shami was asked about his performances and prolonged absence from international cricket. The veteran pacer responded, “No, no, I’m not a good bowler.”💭 Shami also welcomed Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s return to the Indian side, saying consistent performances deserve opportunities. Despite continuing to deliver in domestic cricket, Shami has not represented India since the 2025 Champions Trophy! 💔🇮🇳 #sarcasm #india #shami #bharat #cricket
