What this post is NOT: • an invitation for the exmo world to dunk on the church. • an invitation for the more politically conservative members aligned with the church on this topic to dunk on me or people who feel and think like me. Thank you in advance for trying to “listen to understand” and engaging only in productive dialogue. This is probably THE most contentious topic on the table, and I’m as sick as anyone of the online vitriol that keeps people in their echo chambers/partisan corners/information silos. If you agree with this, you will appreciate me putting it into words. You’re welcome. If you disagree with this, either scroll on by, read with the intent to understand or learn something new (then scroll on by), or try your darndest to engage in a genuinely productive way. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

India is projected to remain the world’s fastest-growing major economy in 2026, with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) raising its growth forecast to 7% in its latest World Economic Outlook released on October 13. The revised forecast marks a 0.6 percentage-point increase from the IMF’s July estimate of 6.4% for the 2026–27 financial year. The upgrade reflects stronger-than-expected economic momentum, supported by robust domestic demand and a resilient services sector. India’s growth is also projected at 7% in 2027–28. India’s projected growth is significantly higher than that of other major economies. China is expected to grow by 4.5% in 2026, while the United States is forecast to expand by 2.3%. Among European economies, Spain is projected to grow by 2.5%, while Germany and the United Kingdom are both expected to record 1.3% growth. Japan’s economy is forecast to expand by just 0.7%. The IMF has projected global economic growth of 3.1% in 2026, slightly higher than its previous estimate of 3%. However, it has warned that the global economy faces significant risks from geopolitical conflicts, elevated energy prices, rising public debt and uncertainty surrounding the profitability of investments in artificial intelligence. Higher crude oil prices are a particular concern for India, which relies heavily on imported oil. A prolonged rise in energy costs could put pressure on inflation, the trade balance and household spending. Despite these risks, the IMF’s upward revision signals confidence in India’s near-term economic momentum, even as growth remains uneven across the world.
