I really didn’t think I’d be making this post so soon…
On Sunday, January 18, 2026 my Mother, Dana (Casper) Jeffries, passed away. Over the years we shared so many memories, some were simple and some were complicated; but no matter how they were made, I never stopped loving you and you never stopped loving me.
While looking back through my childhood pictures, I was reminded of all the great memories we shared together. I remember hovering over the kitchen stove learning to cook from her; watching “Trauma: Life in the ER” while trying to eat dinner simultaneously; the car rides and singing Prince, Michael Jackson, and Aerosmith at the top of our lungs; I remember the debates we’d have over Louisville vs. Kentucky games— we were truly a house divided!
Early in my life, I was prone to sickness and injuries, and she was always there— even crediting angels for alerting her to a febrile seizure I was having as a child in my sleep. But later in life, those roles changed. I had to care for her due to several medical setbacks, including a brain injury, broken ankle, two broken hips, and breast cancer. But, through it all she kept going to her appointments even when she was feeling discouraged. I’ll never forget our car rides to weekly chemo treatments, I was always the DJ and had to pick songs I knew she’d loved— it was usually something R&B.
I’ll never forget the love that she had for me, the lessons she taught me, and the pride she had in me. She always used to joke with me and Josey that when she passed we could fight over her ornaments. But, as beautiful as those ornaments were, I’d still rather have her here.
Thank you to everyone for your prayers, your calls, and your words of support and comfort. These days since and leading up have been hard. My heart hurts, my head is full “why’s” and “what if’s.” But, I know you’re at peace now, in a place where there is no more sorrow, no more pain, and your body is healed.
We will be holding a memorial visitation to celebrate my Mother’s life on Thursday, February 5, 2026 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, located at 706 W. Jefferson St., LaGrange, KY 40031.
