Yesterday was a day I couldn’t even imagine happening, a day I had to say goodbye to my beautiful Mimi. She was recently diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, which was devastating enough, and we lost her January 1st, 2026. Even though I still want her here and to be by her side, I also didn’t want her suffering because I know that’s not how Mimi would want to live.

Mimi was a constant source of love, support, and an abundance of JOY. Her presence always made life feel warmer and safer. I will always cherish all the memories I got to make with her and how much she meant to me. No matter if you were blood to her or a friend of our family, she was everyone’s Mimi and would love anyone as her own. In my whole 18 years, I can’t think of a milestone that Mimi wasn’t there to support me for. From taking care of me and Kamryn each day, dance recitals, Satilla Marsh events, birthdays, my 1st car and driver’s license, softball tournaments, and big accomplishments such as my CNA, she has always been there.

Now as I grow up, wishing you were still on this Earth, I have to remember that you’ll get to watch all my accomplishments from above. My graduation will not be the same without you but I promise I’ll know you’re watching. I’ll graduate, go to college, get my career in healthcare so that I can help others, get married one day, have kids of my own, and live my life the best way I know how to. God had truly blessed me with the best Mimi who has taught me everything I know and I will carry that with me the rest of my life.

Getting to take care of you the past three weeks has been a privilege and I am so glad I got to be there. Even though you were tired, you would still kiss me and smile. I wouldn’t take back any moment of getting you out of bed, going on a walk to see Christmas lights, our last Christmas together, sitting outside listening to worship music, and you holding my hand.

I still don’t feel like you’re gone and I probably will never believe it. But I have peace knowing I’ll get to see and hug you again in Heaven. I love you so much Mimi and I’m blessed to be your granddaughter🤍
