Music Heals.

Two words that say a lot.
I think those two words are the reason so many of you and I are connected.

I’ve always appreciated the chance to be in Vancouver helping raise money and awareness for the Music Heals event. The money raised supports certified music therapists working across British Columbia and Canada, along with other programs.

It’s not just that music makes us feel better. When it’s in the hands of a trained professional, it can profoundly change somebody’s day, and their family’s too.

This gathering is always a significant event. It was especially emotional and heartbreaking this year because it was the first time we did it without our leader and co-founder, Dave Barnett.

Co-founder and Dave’s darling, Sara Ferguson, along with the Barnett family and community, remains committed to doing their part in making this world a more humane, compassionate and truly better place.

Thanks to some very generous people, the night raised a lot of money to support that work. A big night for music, and an even bigger one for the people who benefit from it.

Photos by @joelsartore | Servals like this one I photographed @fortworthzoo are sometimes referred to as giraffe cats because of their unusually long necks and legs. They have the longest legs relative to their body size among any wild cat—an attribute that allows them to jump straight up about 10 feet (3 meters) into the air! On October 26, Danish actor and UNDP Goodwill Ambassador Nikolaj Coster-Waldau @nikolajwilliamcw visited the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant @chornobylnpp as part of a documentary project highlighting the challenges facing the facility and the Exclusion Zone during Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Best known for playing Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones, Coster-Waldau has served as a UNDP Goodwill Ambassador since 2016 and has a longstanding interest in radiation safety and environmental protection. In 2022, he also visited Japan’s Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant.

During the visit, the delegation met with ChNPP Director General Serhii Tarakanov and interviewed plant employees. They also toured key facilities, including the main control rooms of power units 3 and 4, the New Safe Confinement (NSC), and the observation deck overlooking the Shelter object.

The documentary aims to raise international awareness and secure support for restoring the NSC, protecting the environment, and ensuring radiation safety at the site.
