☕️ Each year, more than 500,000 tones of green coffee are imported into Italy for roasting.
The process leaves behind over 7,500 tones of coffee silverskin (CSS) – a thin, papery layer usually treated as waste.

Composed primarily of lignocellulose, this overlooked byproduct holds the potential to replace conventional raw materials. Our ongoing research investigates silverskin as a resource – exploring its transformation into surfaces, structures, and large-format printed matter.

The project examines how design can intercept industrial flows, reframe waste as material culture, and redefine the aesthetics of circular production.
