I love this quilt design, but my word it was a long hard journey to get it to publish. Designed at the beginning of 2024, maths done by summer. Sent the design off and commissioned September 2024 and posted to @lovequiltingmag in November 2024. On its travels from me to the magazine shoot, it went missing. Sadly not to be found and returned. I finally revisited and made a new sample for the magazine in October 2025!
The original was done with an ombré layout and was mostly made with my nan on the phone. I got a bad case of flu and Abbie had to prepare it for @cumbrianlongarmer to work her magic. It was the last quilt my nan got to see photos off in hospital before she died and I managed to do the binding while trying to recover from flu and help organise her funeral. It got the quickest photo on my bed before my neighbour handed it to the courier on the day of my nans funeral. I did a quilt and a cushion with brushed cotton backing and although I forgot to add labels, I loved it. I doubt it will ever make its way back to me but I still quietly hope it does because, it might seem silly but it’s the last quilt I made with nan so it means a lot.
I do love this more scrappy layout version though and the fun @artgalleryfabrics backing and binding I bought are fabulous.
I’m sure nan would be pretty proud it got picked for the cover too.
Long arm quilting done by @cumbrianlongarmer again and batting was kindly supplied by @vlieseline_uk for this one.

It’s wonderful Stacey 😍🙌🏼I really hope it does turn up for you🙏🏼...if it helps I had a parcel vanish that was sent to my Aunt and I had given up on it and the post office sent me compensation etc (which really didn’t compensate for the hours of work, t’was an embroidery) but many months later it did eventually turn up at hers, which was amazing but with no explanation! 🤷🏼♀️🤞🏼💕
