KRIUS

Introducing our new member Skye El Shirbiny!

Skye El-Shirbiny is a violinist currently working towards a Bachelor of Music at the Royal Academy of Music, where she is taught by Jack Liebeck. Her musical work is rooted in the classical tradition while drawing inspiration from folk influences, and she is passionate about making classical music accessible to wider audiences. Skye approaches performance as a means of connecting people through the emotional power of music, and wants to bring classical music out of the traditional spaces and into more people’s everyday lives.

Chamber music plays a central role in Skye’s musical life. She is a member of the KRIUS Collective & KRIUS Quartet, an ensemble based at the Royal Academy of Music that collaborates with a range of instrumentalists and singers. Skye has been a member of the J&A Beares Chamber Academy since 2022, receiving regular coaching from chamber musicians including Jacky Woods, David Alberman, Jonathan Barrett and So-Ock Kim, and giving public performances each term. Additional chamber highlights include performing Mendelssohn’s Octet with the Kaleidoscope Chamber Collective at the Sheldonian Theatre and taking part in an intensive chamber course with Catherine Manson of the London Haydn Quartet.
